Steam Key Redemption Guide
Here’s How To Redeem A Steam Key
Having a Steam key is awesome; who doesn’t love getting new games? But what’s not so great is having a Steam key, and not knowing how to redeem it. Which is why we’ve put together a tutorial for you on doing exactly that.
And for those who haven’t started using Steam keys yet, we can only recommend it as the best way to find games for the cheapest prices. Once you have your key, just follow the comprehensive guide below. And note, this is also how you redeem Steam Wallet Codes.
Redeeming a Steam Key on PC
If you don’t know where to look, redeeming Steam keys on PC can actually be quite confusing. Don’t worry, though, as it’s easy once you know where to go. Follow this the step-by-step guide:
- Launch the Steam Client on your PC and sign in
- Click on "Games" from the top menu
- Choose "Activate a Product on Steam"
- An empty text box will pop up, simply write your code into the box and press “Confirm”

If the Steam key is valid, you will receive a notification that it was successfully redeemed, and the game will now be in your library, ready to download. If you are redeeming too many Steam keys at once, though, Steam might make you wait before entering more codes – just give it a few hours, and you’re good to go again. If Steam tells you your code is not valid, make sure you have written it exactly right.
That wasn’t so hard, was it? Now, enjoy your new game!
Redeeming a Steam Key on Mobile
Redeeming Steam keys on the Mobile app is slightly confusing, but still easy enough:
-
Open the Steam app
-
Go to the “Store” tab on the far left (represented by the price tag symbol)
-
From the options at the top, select “Wallet”
-
From beneath the “Your Steam Account” menu, select the option to “Redeem a Steam Gift Card or Wallet Code”
-
Enter the Steam key or Wallet Code into the empty text box and press “Continue”
-
You will receive notification that it was successful, and the new game will now be in your library.

Although it says the box is strictly for Steam Wallet Codes, this does also work for Steam keys as well. But chances are you’re probably going to redeem your Steam keys when you’re at home and in front of your PC anyway. Still, good to know you can use your phone in a pinch!
