Giropay Casino 2024: My List of The Hottest Giropay Online Casinos

Last Updated on 06.10.2024
Fact checked by: Alex Cabal

Getting started with a Giropay casino is no hassle at all. Why? Well, Giropay itself is free-to-use and doesn’t demand any fiddly set-up processes, while online casinos that accept Giropay will generally let you make your first deposit bonkers-fast.

So, a couple of sentences in, and you’re already looking at a few great reasons to opt for this ultra-secure online payments service. But of course, it isn’t all sunshine and roses. For example, your favorite casino might not be Giropay-friendly, and some sites out there support Giropay deposits but not withdrawals. Here’s everything you need to know.

What are the pros and cons of using Giropay at online casinos?

Fact: no online casino payment option is perfect. It doesn’t make a shred of difference whether you’re playing at iDebit casino sites, bookmakers that accept PayPal or good old-fashioned VISA and MasterCard-powered casinos, there are always going to be pros and cons.

The good news is that there are a lot more ups than downs in Giropay’s case. Here’s what you can expect when using this direct-from-bank payment transfer service to fuel your iGaming fun:

Giropay Casinos: Pros and Con
Giropay Casinos: Pros and Con
  • Fast transactions
  • Excellent online security
  • Supported by 1,500+ banks
  • Free-to-use
  • Giropay withdrawals aren’t always possible

How do I make a deposit at a casino using Giropay?

So, as I said in the last section, Giropay is an online bank transfer service rather than an e-wallet. This essentially means that, if you’ve ever deposited at an online casino with debit card before, the process for funding your iGaming account via Giropay is pretty much a carbon copy of that.

One of Giropay’s biggest draws compared to other, similar services, though, is that you won’t need to fiddle around setting up a Giropay account to use it. Basically, so long as you have a checking account with one of the 1,500+ banks Giropay supports, you’ll be able to make faff-free deposits at online casinos that support the service.

To be honest, I’ve found that there are very minor differences between betting brands themselves in terms of deposit processes, but generally, you just need to:

  • Visit your casino’s “Cashier” page.
  • Click “Deposit”.
  • Select “Giropay”.
  • Enter a deposit amount.
  • Open the Giropay pop-up window.
  • Click “Confirm”.

I’ve played at Giropay casinos aplenty in my time, and guess what? I’ve found that more often than not, Giropay deposits are processed instantaneously. Tops, you’ll be waiting 1-2 hours. A word of caution, though – if you’re depositing 30 EUR or more, you might need to punch in a Transaction Authentication Number (TAN) in the pop-up Giropay window I mentioned. More on that TAN stuff later…

How do I withdraw from my online casino using Giropay?

Now, here’s where things get a little tricky. While there are a ton of online casinos out there that welcome Giropay with open arms for deposits, a trend I’ve spotted is that not all Giropay casinos will let you cash out using this payment method.

It makes zero sense, I know, but them’s the brakes, and the good news is that many of the best bookmakers and online casino platforms out there offer plenty of other, equally fast and secure alternatives on their “Withdrawal” pages. Generally, cashing out with most casinos simply requires you to follow these steps:

Step numberWhat to do
Step 1Visit the casino’s “Cashier” page. Then, hit “Withdraw”, obviously…
Step 2If Giropay isn’t offered, select your preferred payment option…
Step 3Know Your Customer (KYC) checks might be required if it’s your first cash-out. In most countries, these checks just involve uploading speedy evidence of a Government ID.
Step 4Depending on your selected payment option, the withdrawal will be processed in anywhere from a few hours to seven business days.

What verification procedures are enforced by Giropay online casinos?

Now, the top online casino sites that accept Giropay each do things a little differently when it comes to verification steps. Practically all the regionalized online casino recommendations you’ll see on my banners on this page have two things in common, though, which are:

  • Know Your Customer (KYC) checks.
  • Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).

The former, as I mentioned earlier, are just bog standard ID checks, where a casino or bookmaker will require you to upload evidence of a driver’s license, passport or the like before you cash out for the first time. The latter is an optional security service, where you can set your casino account up to send you SMS verification codes each time you log in, deposit, or withdraw, for your own peace of mind. Safety first, people.

Of course, like all super-secure online payment methods, Giropay has its own safeguards in place on top of all that jazz. Whenever you deposit at a Giropay casino, for example, you’ll be asked for:

  • Your PIN.
  • A Transaction Authentication Number (TAN).

Now, your PIN is basically just your online banking details, while a “TAN” is an individual transaction number you might need to use to authorize payments of 30 EUR or more. If a TAN is required, a pop-up window will request it when you come to make a Giropay payment – and you’ll receive the number itself from Giropay directly, usually via SMS or email.

Are Giropay transactions fast?

Yup, like Speedy Gonzalez. As I said previously, the best Giropay casino sites will process your deposits instantly. And in my experience, even the very slowest ones won’t leave you hanging around any longer than a couple of hours. So… maybe not quite Speedy Gonzalez, then, but they’re almost there.

When it comes to withdrawals, I’ve found that not all Giropay-friendly casinos and bookmakers offer this service, I’m afraid to say. If you manage to find a site that does, though, you can expect to be able to cash-out within three business days or less – which is generally quicker than cashing out with an online casino via Amex, or debit card. Better yet, it’s highly unlikely a TAN verification will be required at your end, as you’ll be the recipient of the Giropay transaction rather than the sender.

Do Giropay casinos charge fees?

Well… sometimes. You’ll never have to cough-up any fees to Giropay directly, because, basically, the service makes its money by charging start-up fees and monthly fees to the merchants that offer Giropay as a payment option on their sites, rather than to everyday users like you and me.

Though of course, this does mean that any Giropay casinos you use might charge you transaction fees of their own in a cynical ploy to claw back these costs. Though I do say might.

To be honest, this isn’t something I see very often, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Chances are, any fees iGaming operators do charge will be pretty negligible, anyway.

What other security measures does Giropay have in place?

Giropay is an incredibly safe and very widely trusted payments service. It was founded in Germany back in 2005, and has since expanded massively.

All the Giropay online casinos you’ll see mentioned in the banners across my site utilize SSL encryption and security protocols of their own. But Giropay’s water-tight rep doesn’t come from nowhere. The service itself offers the following great features, too:

FeatureWhat you should know
AES 256-bit encryptionAll Giropay transactions are encrypted – meaning only you and Giropay themselves can actually see transaction deets.
PIN and TANI ran through these earlier – both exist purely to protect you.

What are the top online casino sites that accept Giropay

As we all know only too well, the legal outlook for iGaming varies from country to country, meaning of course that different betting sites and online casinos are up-for-grabs in different places.

To get around this little issue, I’ve set up my site to display geo-targeted banners and lists of the best Giropay online casinos in your region. Rest assured, if you can see a site promoted here, I’ve tried it out for myself and can confirm:

  • It’s licensed where you live.
  • It supports Giropay.
  • It offers awesome games.
  • Its bonuses are great value.

How to choose the best iGaming platform to suit you…

As Giropay casinos come in so many different shapes and sizes, it’s important to know what makes you, as a gamer, tick before having a click around my banners to pin down your ideal iGaming destination.

I always advise gamers to think carefully about the following…

How experienced are you?

Any seasoned card sharks among you are probably going to want an online casino that offers high table limits, as well as deposit and withdrawal terms that aren’t overly restrictive. Likewise, newbies in the house might want to check out brands that offer no deposit bonuses, or lower limits.

What kinds of games do you play at most?

Full disclosure: a lot of the Giropay casinos you’ll see in my banners offer way more slots games than tables. Whether you’re a Sweets Bonanza buff or you regularly go rabid for roulette, it’s essential to have a good look through a brand’s game portfolio pre-registration.

Can you get a bonus?

CNine times out of ten, the best Giropay casinos have welcome bonuses up-for-grabs. That said, you should always double-check their flagship bonuses are definitely available in your state or province. If a regional promo code’s displayed on the ad, be sure to jot that down, too.

My final thoughts on Giropay casinos…

I’m going to level with you guys – I absolutely love Giropay. Why? Well, there’s no fiddly account creation process involved in setting it up, it’s usually free to use at most Giropay-friendly casinos and deposit times are pretty much second-to-none.

It’s a crying shame that not all casinos support Giropay for withdrawals, but so long as you don’t mind switching to another payment method each time you cash out, Giropay is a seriously solid option for iGaming.

Giropay casino FAQs

Time and again, my reader companions get in touch with me demanding answers to the following questions. So… here you go:

🤔 How do I set up a Giropay account?

The simple answer is, you don’t need to. So long as you’re already a customer with one of the 1,500+ Giropay-compatible banks out there, you’ll be able to use Giropay as a casino deposit/withdrawal option where and whenever it’s offered.

❓ Why haven’t I received a TAN?

You’ll only receive a TAN if your casino deposit (or any other Giropay payment you make) exceeds 30 EUR or your local currency equivalent.

🌎 Which countries can I use Giropay in?

At the time of writing, the service is limited to Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy and Latvia – but expect more regions to be added soon.
