Euro 2024 Best Goalkeeper Odds: Who Is the Most Likely to Bring Home the Award?

Germany’s Marc-Andre Ter Stegen looks set to provide stubborn resistance between the posts when Euro 2024 kicks off in the keeper’s home nation this June. Having toiled away in the shadow of iconic German shot-stopper Manuel Neuer for years, Ter Stegen finally has the chance to prove he has what it takes to help take Germany to the promised land.

Ter Stegen’s club performance at Barcelona this season is the reason he clinches the top spot in our Euro 2024 best goalkeeper odds shortlist. The keeper kept 15 clean sheets in 27 appearances for Barça, shipping just 27 goals. He’s also conceded only once in Germany’s last two international match-ups, with the goal coming from an Antoine Griezmann penalty against France.

It’s hard to believe that Italian goalie Gianlugi Donnarumma is only 25 years old. Having built a stellar reputation for shot-stopping excellence at AC Milan, the net-blocking Neapolitan then made a move to French champions PSG, where he’s become a commanding, mature presence that belies his young age.

On paper, of course, Donnarumma is pretty much the perfect goalie. Standing 6ft6, he covers more net than virtually any other keeper in the world. Don’t forget, too, that he scored the Player of the Tournament award at Euro 2020, with his talents helping Italy to overcome England on penalties to clinch the title at the death.

At 6ft1, Jordan Pickford may be a little more vertically challenged in front of goal than his Italian counterpart, but it’s his physical tenacity, aerial ability, and footballing smarts that make him a firm favourite to top the list of Euro 2024 best goalkeeper odds. Granted, the keeper hasn’t been England’s first-choice goalie for The Three Lions’ most recent international fixtures, but with Nick Pope struggling to recover from a recent shoulder injury, it was Pickford who received the call-up as part of Southgate’s squad, who currently have the best odds to win Euro 2024.

That’s no bad thing, either. Don’t forget that Pickford has played every minute for England at the past three major tournaments, making him a veteran of big-occasion matches. He’s also put in a serious shift for club Everton during the 2023/24 season, helping the Merseyside Blues avoid the drop with 13 clean sheets to his name – impressive stuff.

With legendary Flemish keeper Thibault Courtois sidelined by a string of injury problems, shot-stopping responsibilities are set to fall to Matz Sels as the Belgians begin their Euro 2024 campaign in Germany. Although Sels doesn’t have a ton of experience playing for the national side, he’s certain to prove an immovable object between the posts for the Belgians, with the player known for his reflex saves from close-range efforts.

Sels has proven his goalkeeping chops on several big occasions in the past, not least in the 2023/24 season, when he helped steer struggling Nottingham Forest to Premier League safety with a handful of excellent, hard-to-believe saves. Indeed, it was one such touch of net-keeping wizardry that led Sels to receive the Premier League Player of the Month award in March 2024, with a point-blank save against title contenders Liverpool.

Arsenal kept the most clean sheets of any Premier League club during the 2023/24 season, not conceding in 18 games. While much of this can be attributed to The Gunners watertight back four, credit also has to go to Spanish goalie David Raya, who has proven a shot-stopping force of nature since joining the North London outfit in 2023.

Raya may be the shortest keeper on our list of Euro 2024 best goalkeeper odds but the young Spaniard scampers across the goal mouth faster than virtually any other goalie out there. He’s also highly regarded for his ability to play out from the back, which has served him well as part of Arsenal’s title-chasing campaign. Raya clinched the Premier League Golden Glove award at the end of 2023/24, having kept the most clean sheets of any goalie in the league.
