Euro 24 is almost upon us, with anticipation building about which team will come top in the 17th edition of one of sports’ most prestigious tournaments. Could Italy do the double? Might Spain tiki-taka their way to a fourth title? Or could Jude Bellingham power England past heartbreak to their first Euro Cup win? All will be revealed when the championship kicks off in Germany on 14 June.
Until then, we can only speculate about which teams are the Euro 24 favourites, but every soccer fan knows that’s all part of the fun. So, why not join us as we take a whistle-stop tour of ten teams that are favourites to win Euro 2024? We’ll give our take on the tournament favourites, with Euro 2024 betting tips peppered throughout so you can start thinking about your wagering strategy well ahead of the tournament’s hotly anticipated kick-off date.
Although some Euro 24 finalists have an outside chance of winning, bookies agree that one of around 10 teams is the odds-on favourite to lift the Henri Delaunay Trophy on 14 July. So, which sides are the favourites to win Euro 2024? Let’s take a look…
The European Cup may have eluded England thus far, but pundits have been quick to back The Three Lions ahead of Euro 24. And this makes sense given that they narrowly missed out in 2020, losing to Italy in one of the most controversial finals in the history of the cup.
According to bookies we’ve vetted, England’s odds to win Euro 24 currently sit around 3/1 (4.00 or +300), making them outright favourites to clinch the title. Currently, no other team is attracting such strong odds, so The Three Lions could well be a safe bet.
What’s the secret sauce to why England are attracting such strong Euro betting odds? A lot of the anticipation lies at the feet of Jude Bellingham, the 20-year-old superstar currently making waves at Real Madrid. With Bellingham lending England serious box-to-box strength in midfield, bookies agree that the young Los Blancos legend could hold the key to Euro 24 glory.
Having won the World Cup in 2018, France were pegged to stroll to European victory in 2020. It was a huge shock, then, when Switzerland knocked out Les Bleus on penalties, breaking French hearts and leaving them with plenty of unfinished business ahead of the 2024 campaign.
So, where do France’s odds of winning Euro 2024 currently sit? Our research tells us that Les Bleus are fetching Euro 24 betting odds of around 7/2 (4.50 or +350), so they’re not far behind their English rivals in the outright winner stakes.
Of course, French hopes do hinge on the form of one player in particular: Kylian Mbappé. Like Bellingham, Mbappé holds the weight of a nation on his shoulders going into 2024’s European Cup Finals. And considering his recent disappointment in getting knocked out of the UEFA Champion’s League with club team PSG, the French whizzkid is certain to have the bit between his teeth.
Germany’s form in all international soccer tournaments has been surprisingly lacklustre of late, with Die Mannschaft placing a subpar 15th at Euro 2020. Of course, we underestimate Germany at our peril, particularly given that, as the host of this year’s event, the side will be buoyed on by a raucous home crowd.
That’s not the only reason why Germany are Euro 24 favourites. History tells us that the Germans deal well with adversity, with the side having only placed outside the top eight teams on three occasions. They’re also one of the most prolific all-time winners of the Cup, clinching three titles since 1972.
So, where does that leave German odds of claiming the title in 2024? Our favourite Euro 2024 betting sites currently have Die Mannschaft pegged at 5/1 (6.00 or +500) in outright winner bets, but don’t forget that the team does have the momentum of a home crowd behind them.
La Furia Roja may have been far from their best in recent international fixtures, but the fact that they placed third at Euro 2020 cannot be ignored. Plus, Spain will always attract eye-catching Euro 2024 betting offers, having bagged three titles in the history of the cup.
Ahead of this year’s tournament, our experts have Spain at 8/1 (9.00 or +800) favourites to win Euro 24, so if you’re eyeing a larger take home from an outright winner bet, this could be a sensible place to put your money. And with the likes of Nico Williams, Jesús Navas, and Rodri expected to make Spain’s starting eleven, The Red Fury could just go all the way.
Historically, Portugal has relied heavily on talisman Cristiano Ronaldo to take them deep into international tournaments, but a new generation of talent has come to the fore of Portuguese soccer in recent years, placing Os Navegadores among the Euro 2024 favourites.
According to our trusted Euro 2024 betting partners, Portugal are pegged at 8/1 (9.00 or +800) outright favourites to win, sharing the same odds as their Iberian counterparts. And there’s plenty to suggest that they could prove serious contenders – from the dancing feet of Bernardo Silva to the enduring attacking firepower of Ronaldo.
You may have predicted that reigning champions Italy would be odds-on Euro 2024 favourites. However, an ageing squad and managerial setbacks mean that Italy has slipped outside the top five for best Euro betting odds on most sports betting sites we researched.
Still, it would be foolish to write the Italians off. After all, Gli Azzurri has proven on many occasions that they have serious survival chops, with the presence of Gianluigi Donnarumma between the posts offering a safe pair of hands. Italy, are, however, in a seriously tough group, and must overcome Spain or Croatia if they’re to go deep at Euro 24.
The Netherlands are always one to watch at the European Championships, with Oranje proving tough competition for even the top-ranked sides. The Dutch national team cruised to qualification for the 17th iteration of the cup and has some serious squad strength in the form of Memphis Depay, Donyell Malen, and captain Virgil van Dijk, making them easily one of our favourites for Euro 2024.
Having consulted with trusted brand partners, our soccer betting experts have the Netherlands at outright odds of 16/1 to win Euro 2024. It’s unlikely that they have the strength to go all the way, but a wager on them qualifying for the quarter-finals or semi-finals could be a useful tip.
Like their Dutch cousins, Belgium could prove the giant slayers at Euro 2024. An easy group comprising Ukraine, Slovakia, and Romania means that the Belgians are almost certain to qualify for the knockout stages, where they could claim a few big scalps on their way to the latter stages of the tournament.
Of course, one of the most dangerous and clinical tools in Belgium’s arsenal is Kevin de Bruyne, arguably the most lethal midfielder of his generation. Provided no ongoing injury concerns scupper his chances of playing in Germany, de Bruyne could be the man to take Belgium to the promised land.
For a country of just four million residents, Croatia punches well above its weight on the international soccer stage, regularly reaching semi-finals at major tournaments like the FIFA World Cup and the European Championship. It’s produced some seriously talented players, too, with Luka Modrić chief among the country’s most famous footballing sons.
So, is Croatia one of our Euro 2024 favourites? It has to be! While Vatreni only attracts outright odds of around 33/1 (33.00 or +3300) on our most trusted soccer betting sites, we think they have the potential to go deep in Germany – so long as group rivals Spain and Italy don’t stand in their way, that is.
Denmark have made quite the nuisance of themselves in recent soccer tournaments, placing fourth at Euro 2020. Granted, the Danes did have a reasonably easy group and favourable ties in the knockout stages, but there’s no denying that The Red and Whites are the Scandinavian side to watch as things get underway in Germany on 14 June.
With expected outright odds of around 40/1 (41.00 or +4000), Denmark just slips onto our top 10 Euro 2024 favourites list. The Danes are expected to reach the knockout stages at least, with Serbia and Slovenia providing only soft resistance in the group stages.
We’ve covered our Euro 2024 favourites but that’s not the complete picture. Another fourteen sides will be battling it out in the Bundesliga’s riotous stadiums come 14 June, but do they stand any chance of clinching a top spot? And what are the odds of them doing so?
Since everyone likes an underdog story, let’s take a look at some of the other teams competing at Euro 2024 along with our insider betting tips and advice.
