How to play sweepstakes games online
So sweepstakes games are essentially any game that is available at a US
social casino like Chumba. These are essentially casino games that you play with Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins instead of USD. Your prizes will be given in whatever virtual currency you play with. In this guide I’ll specifically look at Sweeps Coins games as SC can be redeemed for cash prizes after certain playthrough and eligibility requirements have been.
To play these games, you can do the following:
- Open a sweepstakes casino.
- Click on the register button.
- Complete the registration form.
- Finalize your account registration.
- Login using your new account details.
- Get your welcome bonus.
- Find a game you want to play.
- Choose either Gold Coin or Sweeps Coin mode.
- Start playing.
You have to register an account at a relevant sweepstakes casino if you want to play sweepstakes games. The registration process is simple and you will also have to verify your ID if you want to play with Sweeps Coins. Once you’ve made your account, most social casinos give you a welcome bonus of Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins – you can use these coins to start gaming with – easy!
Popular online sweepstakes games categories
Sweeps Cash games are usually split into main categories which include:
- Video slots.
- Table games.
- Live dealer games.
- Instant-win arcade games.
There are other types of games too like bingo, poker, and scratchcards, but I feel that the above four are the most common and most popular. The sweepstakes casinos will usually have game categories that you can open to see the individual games for. There are often filters and search bars so you can quickly find specific games. To give you a head start, I’ve explained the four most popular sweepstakes games categories below and given examples of actual games you can play.
Video slots
Video slots are by far the most popular of the sweepstakes games, and most sites feature hundreds of different titles from iconic developers like Relax Gaming, Booming Games, and Playson. We all know how slots work – you hit the spin button and the slot reels spin to reveal a random configuration of symbols. Depending on the game parameters, you can then get prizes if you get any combos.
There is a mind-boggling array of slot types and mechanics, with some popular examples being:
- Megaways.
- Hold and Win.
- Progressive jackpot.
- Cascading/Tumbling reels.
- Bonus buy.
- Expanding wilds.
The gameplay is incredibly exciting, and the spins are usually accompanied by awesome animations and sound effects, plus a rousing soundtrack. Most slots have bonus games, too, that can trigger if you get specific bonus symbols. These bonus games normally include free spins and are typically where you get the generous prizes.

Single-player table games
If you aren’t bothered about playing live dealer games then there is always a collection of superb single player table games. These are games where you play solo and against an AI dealer. They are essentially a video game without any live streaming. Single-player table games offer faster gameplay as you don’t have to wait for other players to make their decisions.
A variety of card games are available, including Texas Hold’Em, three-card poker, and a heap of different video poker variants like Deuces Wild. Oftentimes, you can find fun variants of these table games, with different side bet options. Although not live, the games usually have excellent graphics, realistic animated tables, and classy jazz-style background music.

Live dealer games and game shows
Live dealer games and game shows are taking the sweepstakes casino world by storm and I see more and more sites offering them. One of the main developers of live games for sweepstakes casinos is ICONIC21.
Live dealer games are usually classic table games like blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and three card poker, but with a twist. Instead of playing against an AI dealer in a virtual setting, you connect to a real human dealer via a live streaming feed. The human dealer controls the flow of play and you can interact with them and other players via a live chat. So essentially, you get a real casino experience without leaving the comfort of your home! Popular live dealer games include
blackjack live, roulette, baccarat, Sic Bo, Teen Patti, Dragon Tiger, and various poker games.
Live game shows use the exact same premise and setup as live dealer games, but the game type is different. Games like Dream Catcher, Crazy Time, and Monopoly Live typically include some type of wheel of fortune mechanism where you have to guess which number the wheel will land on. However, developers are becoming more creative and producing a whole heap of live game shows that offer something different compared to classic table games.

Instant-win arcade games
Instant-win arcade games are my favorite type of game and they are becoming increasingly popular at sweepstakes casinos. Titles like Plinko, Crash, and Dice offer fast-paced action and a far greater level of interactivity compared to classic video slots. Oftentimes there is a skill element to the games too, or at least a feature that you can control.
For example, in Crash games you have to choose when to bail out of a crashing object such as a plane and when you bail out affects the prize multiplier you get. These games are unbelievable fun and some of them have a live element too where you are playing with other people. Popular instant-win arcade games include Plinko, Limbo, Dice, HiLo, Crash, and Mines.

Tips for playing sweepstakes casino games
Sweepstakes games obviously have a huge amount of chance but that doesn’t mean you can’t play smart. To help you do that, I’ve given 5 simple tips you can follow below.
1. Get all the free coins available 🎁
Sweepstakes casinos give out free Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins in various ways like the
Vegas Gems promo code in 2025, the welcome bonus, daily login bonus, and referral scheme. Make sure that you understand exactly how to get free coins and make use of all the available options – this means that you get more Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins to enjoy the sweepstakes games with.
2. Understand what RTP is 📊
I always check the game RTP before playing – this info is usually found in the game info or rules page (often an I symbol). This is the Return to Player percentage – it’s the amount you can expect to get back in prizes after playing a casino game for a prolonged period. For example, American roulette has an RTP of 94.74% which means that if you played with 100 SC, you would be expected to get back 94.74 SC. Using this simple rule, always try to look for games with a higher RTP that is as close to 100% as possible. Video slots have an average RTP of 96.00%, so anything over 97.00% is awesome.
3. Know how volatility affects prize distribution 💸
Volatility is another important feature of sweepstakes games as it directly affects your prizes. Low volatility games will give prizes often, but they will usually be in small amounts. Also, the maximum potential prizes is usually less than 250x. In contrast, highly volatile games will NOT give prizes often and you can go long stretches without getting anything. However, the maximum prize is usually huge, and you have a better chance of getting more generous rewards. This means you can either play conservatively with low volatility slots or go for the generous prizes with highly volatile games.
4. Learn strategies when playing table games ♠️
Table games like blackjack, roulette, and baccarat have optimum or strategies that you can use to improve your chances of getting prizes. If you are serious about your table games, then I urge you to spend time learning these strategies. For example, I spent ages learning how to play blackjack properly and what to do when different card combos appeared. This doesn’t make it certain that you will get prizes, but it will at least make sure that you play as efficiently as possible and give yourself the best chance of beating the house.
5. Set yourself limited playtime sessions ⏱️
I find it’s easy to zone out and play sweepstakes games for too long. This can cause mental fatigue but also be the quickest way to drain your coin balance! To avoid this, I only play for sessions of between 10-15 minutes max. Although this might not seem like a huge time, you can play a decent amount of slot spins or table game rounds in that period! By limiting your play time, you can keep yourself fresh and make sure that you don’t use all of your coins at once.
Pros and cons of sweeps games
Social casino games
aren’t perfect and there are some minor drawbacks compared to their RMG counterparts. I’ve reflected that in their overall pros and cons:
Pros & Cons
- High-quality software developers like Playson
- Superb gaming variety spread across various categories
- The game libraries usually contain hundreds of titles
- The games can be played in either GC or SC mode
- They cannot be directly played for real money.
